Vin Diesel on Visiting Paul Walker's Family: I Needed Their Strength

Paul Walker and Vin Diesel
A brotherhood that can never be replaced. Vin Diesel has opened up about Paul Walker once again via Facebook since the late actor's death in Valencia, Calif., on Nov. 30. This time, the Fast and the Furious starrevealed that he jumped on a plane to be with Walker's family -- including his father Paul Walker III and mother Cheryl Walker -- when he heard of the tragic news. More details of his autopsy report here.
"When I heard, I immediately flew back to California, and went directly from the plane to his mother's house," the 46-year-old actor wrote on his Facebook page on Friday, Dec. 6. "I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs."
"His mother hugged me and said I am so sorry...I said sorry? You're the mother who lost a son?" he continued. "She said yes, but you lost your other half…" Alongside the heartbreaking comment, Diesel also posted a picture of himself smiling big with his "other half" at a previous Hollywood event.
Just days before sharing his story, Diesel paid tribute to his late friend in a touching tribute. Following a private memorial service for Walker at the crash site, Diesel addressed fans using a police car speaker.
"I just want to say to all of you, if my brother were here right now and he saw all of the love you are bringing here," he said. "If he could see for himself that all of you have shown up to show my brother love…at this hard time his family gets to see all of you show the love that you've shown Paul."
He added: "It's going to stay with me forever. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him."
Walker and his friend Roger Rodas were killed when Rodas reportedly lost control of his 2005 Porsch Carrera GT and slammed into a tree and light pole, bursting the car into flames. On Dec. 6, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Department stated that Walker died at the age of 40 from "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries." Both men died "within seconds" of the accident.
